Tracking body fat percentage
Last updated June 27, 2026
To log body fat in Nutrola, open the Body Fat Percentage card on the Progress tab and use the picker to choose a value from 3.0% to 60.0% in 0.1% steps (it starts at 20% the first time). Tap Save. Each save is stored in your body-fat history, updates your profile, and shows a category label based on your gender.
Where do I find body fat tracking?
Body fat lives on the Progress tab, in the Body Fat Percentage card.
- If you have not logged anything yet, the card shows an Add Body Fat button. Tap it to open the entry screen.
- Once you have data, tap the card (or the edit icon in the card's top-right corner) to log a new value.
How do I log a body fat value?
- Open the entry screen from the Body Fat Percentage card.
- Use the picker to choose your value. The range is 3.0% to 60.0%, in 0.1% increments. The first time, the picker starts at 20%; after that it starts from your last recorded value.
- As you scroll, the screen previews a category badge (Essential, Athletic, Fit, Average, or Obese) and shows how much you have changed since your last entry.
- Tap Save (the button reads Update Body Fat once you already have an entry).
What happens when I save?
- Your value is recorded to your body-fat history. Nutrola keeps one entry per calendar day, so saving again on the same day overwrites that day's value rather than adding a second one.
- Your profile's latest body fat reading is updated.
- On iOS, if Apple Health is connected, Nutrola writes the value back to Apple Health so other apps can see it. On Android, body fat is saved in Nutrola only. Sync with Apple Health (iOS)
What does the category label mean?
After you save, Nutrola shows a category (Essential, Athletic, Fit, Average, or Obese). The thresholds differ for men and women, so the label is based on the gender set in your profile. These categories are a general guide, not a medical diagnosis.
For background on measurement methods and their accuracy, tap the question mark icon on the Body Fat Percentage card to open the details screen, which includes a Body Fat Ranges chart, a How to Measure section, Important Limitations, and source references. Body fat readings can vary a lot between methods and even across times of day, so it helps to watch the trend over time rather than a single reading.
Editing and deleting entries
To change today's value, just open the entry screen and save a new number, since same-day saves overwrite. You can view and remove past readings from your body-fat history. Editing or deleting water, weight, exercise and body-fat entries
One thing to note on iOS: if you delete a body fat reading in Nutrola, that does not remove the matching sample from Apple Health. You would need to remove it in the Health app separately.
