Ingredients

  • vegetable oil

  • chopped onion

  • potatoes

  • yellow split peas

    1 1/2 cups

  • low-sodium chicken broth

    5 1/2 cups

  • water

    1 cup

  • onion powder

  • poultry seasoning

    1 teaspoon

Instructions

    Wash hands with soap and water.

    Place the oil in a large pot or Dutch-oven style pan. Heat over medium-high.

    Add the onion and sauté until golden, about 2 to 3 minutes.

    Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat to a simmer. Cook uncovered until the peas are tender, about 45 minutes. Serve hot.
