- 500 ml Water
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 tbsp Berbere spice
- 0.5 tsp Salt

Boil water. Gradually stir in barley flour, stirring vigorously.

Cook until very thick and pulls from sides, about 10 min.

Mound on a plate. Make a well in center.
