Apple Watch step and calorie tracking
Last updated 27 जून 2026
Nutrola reads your Apple Watch steps and active calories through Apple Health on iOS. Your watch writes those numbers into Apple Health automatically, so once you connect Apple Health in Nutrola, no separate watch setup is needed. The "Apple Watch" row with the "Install" button in Settings is separate: it just opens Apple's Watch app and does not control tracking.
How do my Apple Watch steps and calories get into Nutrola?
On iOS, your Apple Watch sends steps and active energy to Apple Health by itself. Nutrola then reads those daily totals from Apple Health, so the watch never connects to Nutrola directly.
To turn this on:
- Open Profile/Settings.
- Find the Health & Devices section.
- Tap Connect on the Apple Health row and allow the categories Nutrola requests in the iOS permission sheet.
After that, Nutrola can pull your daily steps and active calories from Apple Health. This is iOS only, because Apple Health (HealthKit) is not available on Android. For details on the data Nutrola requests and when it refreshes, see Exactly what data Nutrola reads from and writes to Apple Health and When Apple Health sync happens (and why nothing imports during onboarding). General setup help is in Sync with Apple Health (iOS).
What is the "Install" Apple Watch row?
In the Health & Devices section on iOS, there is a separate Apple Watch row with an Install button. Tapping it opens Apple's built-in Watch app on your iPhone. It does not install anything by itself; it just deep-links you into the Watch app, where you can manage apps on your watch.
This row is independent from step and calorie tracking. You do not need to tap it to get your Apple Watch steps and active calories into Nutrola, because those flow through Apple Health (see above).
Do I still set my step and calorie goals myself?
Yes. The numbers from Apple Health are your actual activity. Your daily targets for steps and calories burned are goals you set in Nutrola, separately from the data your watch records. See How do I set my step, water, sleep, and calories-burned goals?.
If you also log workouts, Apple Watch and other HealthKit workouts can be imported as exercise; see Importing workouts from Apple Health and Does logging a workout increase my calorie budget?.
Notes
- This feature is iOS only. On Android, activity data comes through Google Health Connect instead; see Health sync on Android (Google Health Connect).
- The numbers shown for steps and calories burned are estimates from your watch and Apple Health, not a precise measurement.
- If your steps or calories are not appearing, confirm Apple Health is connected and that you allowed the relevant categories, then see My data isn't syncing.
