Streak freezes (snowflakes): how they protect your streak

Last updated 2026년 6월 27일

A Nutrola streak freeze, shown as a snowflake, automatically covers a day you miss so your streak does not reset. You get one free freeze on your first log, can buy more for 100 gems each from the streak calendar, and earn bonus freezes at the 7, 30, and 100-day milestones. You can hold up to 2 at a time.

What is a streak freeze?

A streak freeze (the snowflake) is a safety net for your logging streak. If you go a day without logging a meal, Nutrola spends a freeze for you so the streak keeps going instead of dropping to zero. You do not tap anything to use it, it happens automatically the next time the app checks your streak. Each missed day uses one freeze, so two freezes can cover up to two missed days in a row. How streaks work

How do I get a freeze?

There are three ways to get freezes:

  • Free welcome freeze. When you log your very first meal and your streak starts, Nutrola gives you one freeze right away. In the app you may see a message like "Streak Freeze earned" telling you it will save your streak automatically.
  • Buy with gems. You can purchase freezes for 100 gems each. Gems are Nutrola's in-app reward currency that you earn by logging and keeping your streak. Gems: what they are and how to earn them
  • Milestone bonuses. When your streak reaches 7, 30, or 100 days, you earn a bonus freeze (along with other milestone rewards). Streak milestone rewards (7, 30, 100 days)

You can hold a maximum of 2 freezes at once. If you are already at 2, buying or earning more is blocked until you have spent one. In the app, trying to buy past the cap shows a "Stockpile full" message.

How do I buy a freeze?

Freezes are bought from the streak calendar, where you will see a Buy a snowflake option:

  1. Open your streak calendar in the app.
  2. Tap Buy a snowflake.
  3. Confirm when asked "Buy a snowflake? Spend 100 gems to add one snowflake to your stockpile," then tap Buy.

If you do not have enough gems, you will see a "Not enough gems" message telling you how many you need. Pricing here is in gems only; freezes are not bought with real money.

How does a freeze protect my streak?

When Nutrola notices you missed a day and you are holding enough freezes to cover the gap, it spends one freeze per missed day and keeps your streak count exactly where it was. You may see a confirmation that "A snowflake covered your missed day. Your streak lives on."

If you have no freeze available (or not enough to cover every missed day), the streak resets to 0 and then restarts at 1 the next time you log a meal. How streaks work

If your streak has already been lost, a freeze cannot bring it back, but you may be able to use a separate revive option within a day or two of the miss. Reviving a streak after you lose it

Good to know

  • Freezes cover missed logging days. Logging a meal is what counts toward your streak; water and exercise on their own do not. Do water and exercise logs count toward my streak?
  • Freezes are applied automatically. There is no button to "use" a freeze on a specific day.
  • The freeze cost (100 gems), the 2-freeze cap, and milestone bonuses are managed by Nutrola's servers, so exact behavior is enforced there.
