Why didn't my calorie goal change after I updated my weight or goal weight?
Last updated 27 iunie 2026
This is expected behavior, not a bug. Nutrola calculates your daily calorie and macro targets one time, during onboarding, from the details you entered then. Editing your current weight, goal weight, height, gender, or activity later in Personal Details saves those values but does not recalculate your goals. To change your targets after onboarding, set them yourself.
Why don't my goals recalculate automatically?
When you finish onboarding, Nutrola generates your starting daily calorie target and protein, carbs, and fat goals from your profile. After that point, Personal Details and your nutrition goals are kept separate. Saving a new weight or goal weight writes the new number to your profile (and to your weight history), but Nutrola does not re-run the goal calculation, so your daily targets stay exactly where they were.
The same is true if you edit your height, gender, or activity level later, those changes save to your profile without changing your calorie or macro goals.
How do I update my calorie and macro goals?
After onboarding, the only place to change your targets is the Edit Nutrition Goals screen, where you set them manually:
- Open the Profile tab.
- Tap Edit Nutrition Goals.
- Adjust your Calorie goal, Protein goal, Carbohydrates goal, and Fat goal to the values you want.
Your changes save automatically. These goals are stored in your account, so they follow you across devices.
Change your calorie goal and macro targets explains the Edit Nutrition Goals screen in more detail, and How does Nutrola calculate my starting calorie and macro goals? covers how the starting numbers were estimated.
I just want to log my new weight, not change my goals
That works too, and nothing else has to change. Logging a new current weight in Personal Details (or in the weigh-in screen) updates your profile and weight history for tracking, while your daily calorie and macro goals stay the same until you edit them yourself. See How do I record a weigh-in and view my weight history in Nutrola? and Edit your birth date, gender, height, and units.
What about my goal weight?
Updating your goal weight in Personal Details saves the new target for tracking your progress, but it does not adjust your daily calorie or macro goals. If you want your targets to reflect a new goal weight or a different rate of progress, change them in Edit Nutrition Goals. For more on setting your goal weight, see How do I change my goal weight?.
A note on accuracy
Your starting numbers are algorithmic estimates, not medical advice. If you are unsure what calorie or macro targets are right for you, especially after a significant change in weight or goals, consider checking with a doctor or registered dietitian before setting them.
