The calorie or macro estimate looks wrong

Last updated 28 de junio de 2026

Nutrola's photo and voice estimates use AI on Nutrola's servers, so a result is a starting point you can correct. Open the meal and tap the calorie or a macro value to edit it, edit the ingredients, or tap Fix Result to describe what was off. For packaged foods, scanning a barcode is the most accurate option.

Why the estimate can be off

AI photo and voice meals are estimates. The AI cannot always tell exact portions, hidden ingredients (oil, butter, dressing), or cooking method from a photo or a short description, so the numbers are approximate. They are designed to be edited, and small corrections keep your daily totals reliable. For how the AI works, How Nutrola's AI calorie counting works.

How do I correct an AI photo or voice meal?

AI-scanned meals do not have a portion or serving-size control. They are stored on a fixed 100g basis, so you correct the numbers directly instead of changing a serving size. Open the meal from your diary, then use any of these:

There is no way to set a serving size or portion multiplier on a photo or voice meal. If you are looking for that, here is why: Why can't I change the serving size of a photo-scanned meal?.

Get a better estimate next time

  • Be specific when you describe a meal. With Describe Food, include the cooking method, ingredients, and amounts (for example, "2 fried eggs and one slice of buttered toast") so the estimate starts closer.
  • Take a clearer photo. Good lighting and a straight-on angle of a single dish help a lot. For blur, dark photos, or "no food detected" messages, My photo isn't being recognized.
  • Scan the barcode for packaged foods. A barcode pulls the product's listed nutrition facts from a large product database, which is the most accurate option for anything boxed, bagged, or bottled. Barcode products are also the only ones where you can switch portion and units (serving, g, oz, ml, fl oz, or package). If a product is not found, it just means that item is not in it yet, not a problem with your phone Barcode won't scan.
  • Search the database or your Saved Foods when you want a known, consistent entry Log from the food database, your foods, and saved foods.
  • Create a custom food for a homemade dish you log often, so the values are exactly yours every time Create your own food (custom food) and reuse it.

For drinks and anything measured by volume, Logging drinks and liquids (ml / fl oz). To remove a meal you logged by mistake instead of fixing it, Edit or delete a logged meal.
