Edit, add, or remove ingredients in a scanned meal

Last updated 27 iunie 2026

When a Nutrola photo or described meal lists the wrong ingredient or misses one, open the meal from your Home screen and edit its ingredient list. Tap any ingredient to change its calories or macros, tap Add More to add a missing one, or swipe an ingredient to delete it. Your meal's calories and macros recalculate from the ingredient breakdown.

Where the ingredient list is

This applies to meals you logged with the camera (Scan Food) or Describe Food, which open on the meal detail screen with an Ingredients list. Barcode products work differently: they have a portion and unit control instead of an editable ingredient list Why can't I change the serving size of a photo-scanned meal?.

To open the meal, tap it in your Home screen meal list.

Edit an ingredient

  1. In the Ingredients list, tap the ingredient you want to fix (you can also swipe the row and tap the pencil/edit action).
  2. The Edit Ingredient screen opens. Adjust the calories, protein, carbs, or fat for that ingredient.
  3. Tap Done to apply the change, or Revert to reset it back to the original values.

The meal's totals update from the sum of its ingredients, so changing one ingredient updates the whole meal.

Add a missing ingredient

  1. On the meal screen, tap Add More (next to the Ingredients heading, or the dashed Add More button if there are no ingredients yet).
  2. This opens the Search Food database, where you can search for and pick the item to add Log from the food database, your foods, and saved foods.
  3. The added food appears in the ingredient list and its calories and macros are added to the meal total.

Remove an ingredient

  1. In the Ingredients list, swipe the ingredient row to reveal its actions.
  2. Tap the trash/delete action.

The ingredient is removed and its calories and macros are subtracted from the meal total.

Saving your changes

Tap Done at the bottom of the meal screen when you are finished. If you are editing a meal you already logged, your changes are saved to that entry and your daily totals update. Edits also sync to your account so they carry to your other devices, though syncing depends on your connection and may take a moment My data isn't syncing.
