Edit a meal's calories, protein, carbs, or fat by hand
Last updated 28 iunie 2026
Yes. On a Nutrola meal's result screen, tap the calorie number or any macro value (protein, carbs, or fat) to open Edit Calories, Edit Protein, Edit Carbs, or Edit Fat. Type the correct number and tap Done. The new value saves to that entry immediately, so you can fix an AI estimate without re-logging the meal.
How do I type the right number for one value?
- Open the meal so you see its result screen with the calorie total and the protein, carbs, and fat values.
- Tap the value you want to change. Tapping the calorie number opens Edit Calories, and tapping a macro opens Edit Protein, Edit Carbs, or Edit Fat.
- The keyboard opens automatically on the input field. Type the correct number.
- Tap Done to save, or tap Revert to put the original AI value back.
Each value is edited on its own screen, so changing protein does not change your carbs or fat, and the other numbers stay exactly as they were.
What gets saved, and when?
When you tap Done, the value is written to that meal entry. If you are editing a meal you already logged, Nutrola updates it on your device right away and then saves the change to your account in the background, so it can show up on your other devices on the next sync (this is not guaranteed to be instant). If you had saved this meal as a Saved Food, the saved copy is updated too.
Are there limits on what I can type?
- Calories are whole numbers only (no decimal point), entered on a number keypad.
- Protein, carbs, and fat accept one decimal point, so you can enter values like 12.5.
- Negative numbers are not accepted. For the full picture of minimum and maximum values, see Is there a minimum or maximum I can set for calories or macros?.
The Edit Calories screen also shows an "Out of [number] left today" line so you can see how the value affects your remaining daily calories before you save.
When should I edit a value instead of using another fix?
Typing the number by hand is best when you already know the correct figure (for example, from a package label) for one calorie or macro value. If the whole estimate is off and you would rather describe what was wrong in plain language, tap Fix Result instead and tell Nutrola what to change Correct an AI meal with 'Fix Result' (tell it what's wrong). If the food itself is misidentified, you can edit, add, or remove ingredients Edit, add, or remove ingredients in a scanned meal.
Keep in mind that AI photo and voice meals do not have a portion or serving-size control, because they are stored on a fixed basis. Editing the calorie and macro values by hand (or using Fix Result) is how you correct them Why can't I change the serving size of a photo-scanned meal?. Portion and unit switching exists only for barcode products from a large product database.
If you instead want to change the meal's name, delete it, or fix a clearly wrong total, see Edit or delete a logged meal and The calorie or macro estimate looks wrong.
