Logging drinks and liquids (ml / fl oz)

Last updated 28. června 2026

When you scan a drink's barcode in Nutrola, the product is recognized as a liquid and logged in your volume unit (ml on metric, fl oz on imperial) instead of grams. To change the amount, tap the logged drink in your recent meals to reopen it, then pick Serving, ml, fl oz, or Total Package and type the amount.

Why does my scanned drink show ml or fl oz instead of grams?

Barcode products come from a large product database. When a product is marked as a liquid there, Nutrola logs it with a volume measurement so it reads naturally for a drink. The unit follows your app's measurement system:

  • Metric: the drink logs and reopens in ml.
  • Imperial: the drink logs and reopens in fl oz.

Solid (non-liquid) barcode products use g or oz instead. To change which system you use, How do I switch between metric and imperial units?.

How do I change the amount of a logged drink?

  1. On your home screen, tap the drink in your recent meals to open its details.
  2. Under Measurement, choose the unit you want: Serving, ml, fl oz, or Total Package.
  3. Under Serving, tap the number and type the amount (for example, 330 ml or 12 fl oz).
  4. The calories and macros recalculate automatically as you change the unit or amount. Save your change to update the meal.

Switching units resets the amount to a sensible default (for example, ml starts at 250 and fl oz starts at 8), so re-enter the exact amount after picking a unit.

What does each measurement option mean?

  • Serving: one serving as listed for that product.
  • ml (metric) or fl oz (imperial): enter the volume directly.
  • Total Package: the whole package or container. This option only appears when the product database provides a package size for that product, so you won't always see it.

The g and oz options shown on solid foods do not appear for drinks; liquids use ml and fl oz in their place.

Can I set a volume for a photo or voice meal?

No. Drinks logged by AI photo or voice analysis don't get a volume control, because those meals have no portion or serving-size adjustment at all. To correct an AI-logged drink, tap a calorie or macro value to edit it, edit its ingredients, or use Fix Result to describe what was wrong.
